About Kourou Stitchworks

About our workshop

We remodel, alter, and upcycle clothing with a careful eye on fabric, fit, and what can realistically be achieved from the garment itself.

Garments remade with purpose

Kourou Stitchworks works with pieces that deserve a second life, from everyday clothing to vintage items and garments with personal meaning. Each project begins with a close assessment of the fabric, construction, and requested changes.

Our approach is practical and collaborative. We explain the limits of the existing material, discuss the redesign options, and move forward only after the concept is approved.

Our story

How the workshop began

Built in Kourou, our workshop focuses on thoughtful alteration work and garment remodelling that respects the original piece.

Since 2020, the workshop has focused on redesign consultations, fit updates, and upcycling projects that make better use of what already exists.

We work with customer-supplied garments and review the material before quoting, so the scope stays clear and the result stays grounded in the fabric available.

From the first inquiry to the final collection check, the process is designed to keep the work precise, understandable, and carefully finished.

What we value

The way we work

Our work is shaped by clarity, material awareness, and a respect for garments that already have a history.

1

Careful assessment

Every project starts with an inspection of the garment, its condition, and the requested fit or redesign. That review helps set a realistic scope before any work is approved.

2

Clear approval

We make the proposed changes clear in writing and ask for approval before additional work is carried out. This keeps the project aligned with the agreed design.

3

Practical upcycling

We focus on remodelling, alteration, and upcycling work that gives garments a longer useful life. When materials are limited, we explain what can and cannot be achieved.

4

Final review

Collection includes a final fit check or finish review, along with care and pressing notes where relevant. Small adjustments are handled with the agreed design in mind.
